IDA Chief Executive Martin Shanahan has said that the availability of quality and affordable residential accomandation was a key competitiveness factor for foreign direct investment in Ireland .
Mr Shanahan is concerned by the lack of availability of competitively priced ” ready to buy ” housing stock, across multiple ranges, this availability is a strategic priority for multinationals firms that are considering setting-up in Ireland .
As demand for housing is getting stronger coupled with historically low supply prices are rising to boom levels and this presents a significant problem for the IDA who are attempting to attract FDI inaddition to the campaign to lure firms who wish to leave the UK after Brexit to Ireland
Another major cloud on the IDA FDI horizon is the acute skills shortages currently in the Irish Labour Market and the resultant wage inflation that is taking place .
Back 4 Good -Your future in Ireland has set out a innovative strategy to address these issues.
This Strategy includes promoting investment in each county in Ireland, creating County Talent registers and offering much more affordable property and other requirements outside of Urban centres that skilled professionals require to return to the own town, village or City .
Back 4 Good now has a County section on our platform for each county in Ireland which we launched last week and the response from potential returnees is exciting .
We are expanding Ireland’s Talent pool and operating within a Global battle for Talent Accomandation costs ,high income tax rates and poor public services make our battle much more difficult, however we believe that having reached 63,000 users since our launched last November that the State should now get behind Back 4 Good to ensure that Ireland’s competitiveness remains .
It is now time for a round table forum to examine and create a strategic communications plan that will ensure that Ireland starts to address these issue urgently .
