Ireland’s population has reached 4.7million people as they total number of non-Irish nationals fell in the last 5 years .<\/p>\n
Census 2016 results shows that Ireland’s population now stands at 4,761,865 in April 2016, and increase of 173,613 since April 2011.<\/p>\n
Interestingly 2 counties saw a decline in population Mayo and Donegal .<\/p>\n
The report also highlights some lifestyle changes .<\/p>\n
Nearly 468,400 people declared themselves as having no religion and the number of people identifying themselves as Catholic dell to almost 3,729,100 .<\/p>\n
3,382 less people speak Irish on a daily basis outside of the Education system and on marriage ,a total of 37.6% of the population are married .<\/p>\n
Overall the population growth of 3.8% in the past 5 years is the slowest growth figure in 20 years and Net migration of 22,500 people during the 5 years reduced the population .<\/p>\n
The population in Dublin grew by 5.8%,Cork by 4.6% and Galway by 4.2% .<\/p>\n
There was a significant fall in the number of births, which was down to 67,000 in 2015 from 77,000 in 2010.<\/p>\n
