{"id":151,"date":"2016-10-28T11:19:10","date_gmt":"2016-10-28T11:19:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/project.blueberry.ie\/back4good\/cms\/?p=151"},"modified":"2016-10-28T11:19:10","modified_gmt":"2016-10-28T11:19:10","slug":"demand-female-engineers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/project.blueberry.ie\/back4good\/cms\/demand-female-engineers\/","title":{"rendered":"Demand for more Female Engineers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The lack of women entering the field of engineering is harming the economy according to the President of the Royal College of Engineering Professor Ann Dowling.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Dowling said that the lack of gender diversity is damaging to the pharma,food,IT and Biomedical engineering sectors.<\/p>\n<p>Women account for just 105 of engineers in Ireland and this low number is acting as a drag on innovation in the sector according to Professor Dowling.<\/p>\n<p>A recent report by Eurostat showed that 85% of engineering, manufacturing and construction graduates in Ireland were male in 2014 compared to the EU average of 73% .<\/p>\n<p>As the demand for engineers in all sectors increasing with shortages in most sectors the need to expand the talent pool in this area is vital and female participation will ensure that the pipeline of talent increases significantly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The lack of women entering the field of engineering is harming the economy according to the President of the Royal College of Engineering Professor Ann Dowling.
