British Airways,JetBlue,easy jet,Virgin Atlantic,Flybe and many other airlines have announced full and part-sponsored pilot training opportunities in recent years .However these are limited and highly competitive .<\/p>\n
Meanwhile the shortage of pilots is driving salaries upwards with the average salary for a starting pilot in the US running at over $120,000 and Captains looking at packages in excess of $300,00 of course this will impact on customers when the go to purchase their next flight ticket .<\/p>\n
Pilots are also voting with there feet and moving to airlines that pay better and have a strong Life -Work balance .Over 700 pilots left Ryanair in the last Financial year to rival airlines and this resulted in the airline introducing its flight cancellation programme .<\/p>\n
The skills shortage in the sector will have similar impacts across the globe as pilot retention becomes the big issue in the sector .<\/p>\n
